Make every vote count.

NOTA!

We have all done “inky pinky ponky” to choose answers in our exams but do we really want to decide the fate of our country through this? Whoever be the lucky winner of “inky pinky ponky….”, the fact is that we will end up as the donkey.

There have been instances in the past where people have decided not to exercise their franchise just because they felt there was no candidate worthy of their vote. The truth is that even now there are hardly any candidates who deserve our votes but abstaining from voting is playing into their hands. So what does one do then? Do we not vote at all for fear of choosing the wrong person? The answer is pretty simple actually.

The Election Commission has ensured that each Electronic Voting Machine is equipped with the NONE OF THE ABOVE option which says that YOU are unhappy with the candidates and none of them deserves your vote. Exercising this option ensures your vote is recorded and these votes will be tallied too.

Political parties have taken us for a ride for far too long. It’s time we pay them back. While this might not prevent a winner it will surely let the parties know that We the people, the present and the future of this nation will not tolerate any more nonsense. It’s time they play by our rules and they keep us in mind before putting a candidate with a colorful past to represent us.

This might seem like a small step if we look at the larger picture but every journey begins with the first step. Not many people would speak about this alternative that’s available to us. Political affiliations and “quid pro quo” are part and parcel of this huge reality show.

Each vote is invaluable and voting for someone without thinking will reflect on us a few years down the lane. It’s time to show them your finger now before they decide to show you theirs for five years.

Modi sarkaar ho
ya hath ka waar,
Broom karegi safai
ya hathi hoga bhari,
Didi ho ya amma,
Sab karenge dharna.
inke naatak pe na jana,
soch ke button dabana.

Make every vote count.
